The RS4 Plus is probably one of the most inexpensive smartwatches from Xiaomi’s sub-brand Haylou. In comparison to other top smartwatches on this list, the RS4 Plus outshines even top tier models like the Amazfit Bip and even the Xiaomi Mi watch making it one of my favorite finds of this year.
I personally loved that the RS4 Plus looks and feels much like the Apple Watch and one of the primary reasons why I’ve listed this model here is because it comes with a large 1.78-inch Retina AMOLED display and has a fluid 60Hz refresh rate, that’s hard to find in an inexpensive smartwatch.
Truth be told, the watch sits comfortably and the magnetic straps make it easier to adjust without having to take off the watch. The metal frame is an impressive upgrade because I’ve mostly seen Xiaomi smartwatches equipped with a plastic body.
But from personal experience, the RS4 Plus is durable and certainly built to last, moreover, the IP68 waterproof rating makes it the perfect companion while stepping out in the rain or while going for a swim.
In addition to the wonderful design, the RS4 Plus comes preloaded with over 100 sports modes and health trackers that syncs with the health app real-time. I’ve used it to keep track of my sleep, oxygen, heart rate and even stress levels and the watch has not bailed on me till date.
I found that with regular day-to-day use, the RS4 can last for upwards of 10 full days before it needs to be recharged and considering the price of $49, it’s definitely worth every cent and I do hope Xiaomi Haylou makes more of these wonderful smartwatches. Maybe the next one could have a built-in e-Sim, we may never know!
Another Xiaomi smartwatch that’s impressive to use, comfortable to wear and one that I loved playing around with is the Redmi Watch 2 Lite. I came across this smartwatch a few months ago and simply knew that I had to get my hands on it.
I purchased it from AliExpress for under $60, and for the price, the quality and specs were quite amazing. I mean, it’s not as impressive as the RS4 Plus, but the bright and powerful 1.55-inch display stood out to me and I most certainly don’t regret my decision to buy it.
The display is slightly smaller than the RS4 Plus and that’s okay because it’s super customizable and I found it fun to use on a daily basis thanks to the wide collection of watch faces that are easily accessible via the app store.
I didn’t put the Watch 2 through any water resistance tests, but it does carry a 5ATM rating which means that it can be used in the shower, while swimming and even in the rain. I did however, test the sensors and found the GPS chip to be pretty accurate.
The 24-hour heart rate monitor, sleep tracker and stress monitor were also on point and the data that’s tracked gets synced with the health app, so I could keep a check on my daily routine and see whether my personal fitness goals were met.
One of the main reasons why I’m recommending the Watch 2 Lite is because it comes with a built-in rechargeable battery that can deliver up to 10 days of runtime on a single charge. This along with the 100+ operating modes and 17 training modes make it a worthwhile choice.
